Wall Lighting Fixtures Compliment Lighting Design
Wall lighting fixtures and sconces supplement a general lighting plan, serve as task lighting, or accent lighting. While they can be used for general lighting, it is important to note in your lighting design plan that when used without any ceiling lighting, the effect makes the ceiling seem lower. Wall fixtures with exposed or partially exposed light bulbs are great for use as task lights—such as along a bathroom or vanity mirror.

Wall lighting fixture tips:
When you’re in the lighting design planning phase, there are a lot of things to think about when it comes to what fixtures will be placed in the room and where. Here are some tips to help you choose the best options for your space:
- Think about the size and type of room that the wall light fixtures will be placed in. Does the room have high or low ceilings? How big is the space?
- How much light does the room need? Does the room have to be bright or dim? (Both options are available with dimmer switches.)
- Will light fixture be used for accent, task, or simply functional purposes? Again, take into account the size of the room to ensure an overall balanced lighting design.
- Always use wall lighting fixtures with ceiling lighting. If you use wall fixtures without illumination from the ceiling, it will make the ceiling seem lower.
- Wall lighting is best when installed at eye-level.
- Install wall fixtures where they will not be in danger of traffic.
- Wall lighting is typically complementary to other light fixtures.
Choosing the best wall lighting fixtures is an important part of your overall lighting design plan. The right lighting will accent your space beautifully, so you to get the most out of every room. Other types of light fixtures that may also be involved in your design phase can include chandeliers, pendant lighting, ceiling light fixtures, or recessed lighting fixtures.
